Sports and wellness

Edizione promotes sports as a driver of inclusion, education, and well-being within local communities, through concrete and accessible projects for all ages.

Investment case

Edizione actively promotes dialogue and cooperation with local communities via sports club activities, thus contributing to the social and sporting growth of the local areas where it operates. This highly social mission is developed by creating projects and events to promote the values connected with the games of basketball, volleyball, rugby and golf among young people and families, and also by optimising the management of the sports facilities it owns: La Ghirada - Città dello Sport (established in 1982), Asolo Golf Club (opened in 1997) and Il Palaverde (1983). Youth sports activities with a social purpose are organised in these facilities, which, over the years, have become leading sports centres.

ESG approach

Edizione promotes sporting activities in local communities via Verde Sport, Asolo Golf Club and Benetton Rugby, in recognition of the value of sport as a means for spreading positive and lasting values.

From this perspective, sport is not just performance, but above all a cultural factor - a source of education and social inclusion - especially for the younger generations.

A concrete example is La Ghirada, a free-of-charge facility that is open all year round, where children and adults can practise various sports in a safe and stimulating environment. Ranging from the motor development of small children in the playground to people of all ages playing basketball, volleyball, rugby and golf, and other sports, La Ghirada is not just a sports facility, but also a social project that puts people and the values of sport at the centre of its actions.

Verde Sport also organises and supports sports events involving a wide variety of disciplines and age groups, which generates positive impacts at local and sometimes at national level.

This vision is inspired by the principles of the European Sports Charter and the goals of the Italian National Olympic Committee, which enhances the link between sport and sustainability.

Sustainability also has strategic value for Benetton Rugby, which is reflected in the company's operations, decisions and long-term goals. In this context, sustainability is an ethical imperative that takes into account the social, environmental and economic impacts of business activities.

Benetton Rugby believes that sustainability is key to building a solid future. Therefore, in line with the values of rugby, it aims to create value for all stakeholders, while respecting the environment and society. This translates into concrete actions, such as reducing climate-damaging emissions, adopting ethical business practices throughout the supply chain, investing in renewable energy, using resources more efficiently and promoting diversity and inclusion.

As well as responding to current challenges, Benetton Rugby's approach to sustainability also provides an opportunity to create long-term value by generating positive impacts that go beyond the company.

About Verde Sport

Since 1988, Verde Sport has been promoting sport as a way of transmitting positive values and a healthy, community-based lifestyle.

Verde Sport manages “La Ghirada – Città dello Sport”, built by the Benetton family in 1982 and located near Treviso. Although private, the centre is open to the public free of charge 365 days a year, offering 22 hectares of space for practising sport in a healthy setting, ideal for young people and families. With more than 460,000 visitors a year and a 40-year tradition of sports-related projects and events, La Ghirada is one of a kind for the promotion and practice of sports free of charge in Italy.

Verde Sport also organises important international events, such as the Adidas Eurocamp (a world-class event involving the best young European basketball players), and an international dance internship (500 students, 37 editions held). The company is also engaged in training, with a first-level master's degree in Sport Business Strategies (SBS), in collaboration with Venice's Ca' Foscari University of Venice, now in its 20th edition.

To support its initiatives, Verde Sport is constantly seeking new partners and strengthening existing partnerships. The company actively collaborates with local public authorities, federations and sports leagues, with the aim of generating synergies and producing a positive social impact within the communities it serves.

"First and foremost, our sports mission has a social vocation for spreading the culture and practice of sport in local communities, especially among young people and their families."
